He's good, but only for certain roles. This movie however is a perfect fit for him.

Ron Pearlman I find comes across as the type of actor that goes for whatever gets him a good paycheck.

Though in this movie I find he was a perfect fit as well. His character was pretty much the rough and tough brute character that typical fantasy/medieval stories have. Nicholas Cage's character was also kind of typical but slightly different, his character was portrayed to be the battle hardened warrior who through all the bloodshed still maintains a soft kind heart.

The story of Season Of The Witch is that 2 men who are comrades and best friends are in the army under the banner of God. (Holy Knights) and with no second guessing the words of their army's "god's voice" who orders them all to do his bidding as he claims it is god's will. They fought many battles and wars and struck down any who opposed them. During one such instant they were to slay all their enemies who are in a fortress/village. Breaking down the gates they all run in through the smoke and start hacking away and as Nicholas Cage's character thrusts his sword forward the smoke clears to reveal that he struck a helpless and innocent women unarmed, as he looks around he sees all his fellow knights hacking away regardless and then sees Ron Pearlman's character looking onward with as much shock as he has. Outraged they argue with the leader and storm off stating that he fights for god, not the church or men claiming to be the voice of god. Shortly after deserting the army along with his best friend they come across a village that has been the victim of an apparent witch and that's where it takes off. The rest would be spoiling it for you all so I'll leave it there.

I liked the movie, I thought it was good, I didn't personally have high hopes for it however due to the fact that it's Nick and Ron, but both of them did a really good job and it was quite a good movie.

Not as good as other movies I've seen lately but good, I give this movie 2 and a half smileys
Mythiashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442616151909883084noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1017135842443326144.post-25874634622774917412011-07-08T23:29:00.000-04:002011-07-08T23:29:56.611-04:00The Warrior's WayThe Warrior's Way is a movie that mixes both the stereotypical western gunslinger style movie and samurai movie. It stars Kate Bosworth, Geoffrey Rush, Danny Huston and One of my favorite martial artist actors Jang Dong Gun.

The story of the warrior's way is almost Cliche' . It's about a swordsman (Jang) who trained his entire life in the ways of the sword wanting to become the world's greatest swordsman and he eventually achieves his goal, but in a surprise mix of events he becomes the target of assassin's from his clan and flees his homeland to settle down and start a new life without conflict. During this time he settles down in a run down circus village in the American west and finds that the simple life as the owner of a laundry cleaner store is quite peaceful and while maintaining the simple existence he becomes very close with the townsfolk and even forms a slight awkward but cute romance with Kate Bosworth's character. But soon he must take up the sword again in order to protect his new home and many friends when a group of outlaws and pack of assassin's find their way to the town.

This movie was actually really good, I was expecting it to be really predictable and boring to a point but the cast of this movie had great chemistry and the special affects were really good. I loved how they brought the western "gunslinger" and eastern "samurai" so close in this movie and managed to make it work so well. Jang did such a great job playing the "retired" swordsman trying to forget his past. And Kate Bosworth being the beauty that she is, played the cute "tomboy" girl part very well. The chemistry between the two is what really kept me into the movie and the twist later one with one other character who I won't name for your benefit really kept my eyes open. One line they used that I really liked was " When you live as a warrior and you love some one, you show it best by staying as far away from them as possible" though it sounds kind of sad I really like it and I can understand the meaning behind it. This movie gives the perfect amount of Action and even has a bit of romance and comedy as well. I recommend this movie to whoever wants a "samurai western" experience movie and from me it gets 3 smileys. I hope you enjoy it like I did.Mythiashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442616151909883084noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1017135842443326144.post-37491540894458059652011-06-01T01:21:00.000-04:002011-06-01T01:21:31.067-04:00I am number fourSo I watched " I Am Number Four" a couple of days ago but haven't had a chance to post my opinion of it.
I was a great movie. Personally I am a bit of a comic book geek and love the idea of super powers and aliens on earth and stuff like that.

I Am Number Four however, gave all that good stuff as well as a little bit of romance and a bit of comedic moments too. The story of " I Am Number Four" is very intriguing and not entirely predictive.

Basically it's the story of a 15 year old kid who isn't actually human, he's an alien from a planet called Lorien which was destroyed. He along with 8 other alien children were sent to earth to hide from a group of other aliens known as the "Mogadorians" who were responsible for the destruction of his home planet. The concept that made the movie interesting is that though the "Mogadorians" are trying to kill every last remnant of planet Lorien (the 9 aliens on earth) they have to kill them in order from 1 to 9. Which makes the whole plot ALOT more entertaining then a simple " Boom Bang Pow" all the aliens except number four are dead. Aside from the "action super hero" plot in the story, there is a very deep and "Human" part to the entire movie and it's something that ALL of us can relate to and that is : Wanting to fit in, wanting to feel acceptance, believing fully in something we feel is right, realizing we are ever-changing and facing our responsibilities.

Personally I loved this movie, there were moments where I was on the edge of my seat and moments where I was totally pumped up like " Wow that is so awesome" (typical geek moments)
for those of you who like action and sci-fi movies I totally recommend this movie and for those of you who are looking for a " Teen angst" or "teen romance" movie, I recommend this movie as well.
This movie, for me, totally gets 5 Smileys! Mythiashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442616151909883084noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1017135842443326144.post-57683812461090907512011-06-01T00:58:00.001-04:002011-06-01T01:01:12.444-04:00Gnomeo and JulietteSo tonight I decided to cuddle up and watch a cute animation movie called " Gnomeo and Juliette".
The answer to your question : YES! it is a good movie.

the whole movie was very cute, very funny and though was definitely aimed for a younger audience
was very entertaining and had a cute "kiddy" version of romance.
Basically it's the typical re-telling of Shakespeare's " Romeo and Juliette" but without the tragic end.

For those of you who don't know the story of Romeo and Juliette (though I'm sure everyone has)
it's a story about to families at war with one another and they are known as the Capulets and Montegues.
Both who's youngest child falls in love with the other, enemies by family name but lovers regardless.

Like the original story " Gnomeo and Juliette" goes on just the same but with more humor and less violence.
As stated earlier it IS aimed for a younger audience but that doesn't mean it wasn't a good movie. In fact
it was actually quite great. It gives you moments where you genuinely will laugh no matter how old you are
and it can even make you feel slight sadness at parts in the movie because the director truly tapped into what
makes both children and adults respond emotionally to a movie.

I saw it and I loved it, I laughed, I felt a moment of sadness, I laughed even harder and by the end of the movie I definitely did NOT regret renting it. I definitely recommend renting or buying this movie, grabbing a huge bowl of popcorn and snacks and drinks and sitting down with the family, or your lover or by yourself even and watching this movie! No matter if you've seen the original "Romeo and Juliette" or the one with Leonardo Dicaprio, or if you've even just read the book or seen the play, It is a great movie for audiences of any age. I give this movie 4 SmileysMythiashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442616151909883084noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1017135842443326144.post-35262729460560625572011-05-23T20:51:00.005-04:002011-06-01T01:00:29.934-04:00The Next 3 Days.So I just finished watching the movie "The Next 3 Days" and all I have to say is: WOW!!!!!

the movie was one of the best movies I have seen in quite some time. It had raw emotion
and showed on screen just how far some of us would be willing to go for the ones we love.
Personally I was drawn right in from the small summary on the back of the movie case.

Married couple John Brennan and Lara Brennan
The Husband is played by Russell Crowe and the Wife is played by Elizabeth Banks.

The story is basically this :

Man and wife in a happy marriage with young child.

Wife has a jerk of a boss and hates her boss with passion.

One morning while the couple and their son are all getting ready to go about their day a bunch of cops show up at their door with a warrant for the arrest of the wife for murder.

Frantic, the husband refuses to cooperate with the police and begins shoving the cop right in front of him to get to his wife and child and is very aggressive and confused.

Black screen and fast forward to about 2 years.

As could be expected, due to Lara being in prison for the past 2 years the relationship between her and John has gotten rocky, Though Lara has lost hope that she'll ever see the light of day John still shows that he has hope and that he's going to do whatever he can to prove her innocence to the court. Also dramatically effected by this is their now 6 year old son Luke. After several visits to the prison to see Lara, John begins to lose hope. After a slightly heated argument between the two Lara states angrily that John never even bothered asking her if she actually committed murder to which John responds that he never needed to ask because he knows without a doubt that Lara never committed murder and that he knows who she really is and that she isn't a murderer. After another small meeting with their "dipshit" lawyer, John decides that he's going to take matters into his own hands and bring his Wife home and begins creating his master plan to make that happen.

( I won't spoil the rest of the movie for you all)

Personally I loved this movie, It was a movie that screamed out "WATCH ME!" and through out this entire movie I couldn't help but think " I would do this too if it was my wife in that situation."
I am in a strong and loving relationship quite like the one portrayed in this movie and I honestly would feel exactly what Russell Crowe's character did too. In life, when we get married we agree to stand by our other half for better or for worse, in sickness and in health and this movie takes that meaning to a whole new level.
It's a movie that has not only action but drama, suspense and romance in it. All of which, when mixed together make a DAMN good movie and this one did not let me down. The entire movie kept me on the edge of my seat anxious for what would or could happen next. At the end of this movie I found myself sitting here with tears in my eyes, I'm a man but I DO show emotion during movies, especially with movies like this. It is a must see and trust me you WILL NOT regret taking my word for it.
I give it 5 Smileys!Mythiashttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07442616151909883084noreply@blogger.com0
